Core Technology: Series & Parallel Configurations for Lithium Batteries
Single cells have limited voltage and capacity. To meet real-world power demands, we combine cells in series, parallel, or series-parallel configurations:
Series: Voltage adds up, capacity remains the same, internal resistance increases.
Example: 3.7V cells → 3.7×(N)V (7.4V, 12V, 24V, 36V, 48V, 60V, 72V, etc.)
Parallel: Capacity adds up, voltage unchanged, internal resistance decreases → longer runtime.
Example: 2200mAh cells → 2×(N)mAh (4400mAh to 100Ah+)
Series-Parallel: Both voltage and capacity increase for high-power applications.
Custom Calculation Example (48V 20Ah with 18650 3.7V 2000mAh cells)
Series: 48V / 3.7V ≈ 13 cells in series (13S)
Parallel: 20Ah / 2Ah = 10 cells in parallel (10P)
Total cells: 13S × 10P = 130 cells
We support all common chemistries: LiCoO₂ (3.7V), NMC (3.6V), LiFePO₄ (3.2V), LTO (2.4V).
Precision Cell Matching for Safety & Performance
To avoid overcharging, over-discharging, or thermal runaway, every cell must be strictly matched:
Voltage difference ≤10mV
Internal resistance difference ≤5mΩ
Capacity difference ≤20mA
We use advanced battery management systems (BMS) with protection against overcharge, over-discharge, overcurrent, short circuit, and NTC temperature control. Never mix different brands, voltages, capacities, old/new cells, or chemistries (e.g., NiMH with Li-ion).
Intelligent PACK Manufacturing
Our lithium battery PACK (Processing, Assembly, Packaging) includes:
High-quality Li-ion cells (18650, 21700, pouch, prismatic)
Custom PCM/BMS with active/passive balancing
Plastic shells, nickel strips, brackets, and custom terminals/wires
Full SMT assembly and automated production lines
We support both parallel-first then series (common for e-buses) and series-first then parallel (preferred for grid storage and better cell monitoring). Each topology is optimized for your application.
Charging Solutions – Series vs. Parallel
Series charging: Low cost, but requires BMS to cut off when any cell reaches overcharge protection voltage (otherwise other cells may not be fully charged).
Parallel charging: Needs balanced charging. We recommend using a single, dedicated protection board for all paralleled cells. Never parallel charge protected and unprotected cells together. Use only 4.2V chargers for Li-ion (no 5V chargers).
